		With the rising of a new town, a museum was founded in Velenje as to preserve the cultural heritage. The founding document of the Museum of the Slovene coalmines was signed on the 3. November 1957, in order to preserve and present the history of all our coalmines. [more]


		Kavčnik homestead is an exceptional museum of folk architecture. The main room of the house is more than 400 years old smokehouse with an open fireplace which was used for cooking and heating. [other units]


		Velenje castle is one of the most preserved castles in Slovenia. It is first mentioned in 1270. First owners were Kunšper gentlemen followed by their relatives Ptuj gentlemen and the family Liechtenstein. Afterwards the castle rapidly changed owners. [more]
